Terms of use

The short version

  • JogOn builds you a training plan from what you tell it, using fixed training rules. It isn’t a doctor, a physio or a coach who knows your health. It isn’t medical advice.
  • See a GP before you start if any of the warning signs in section 3 apply to you. Stop and get help if you get chest pain, feel faint or very short of breath, or have sharp pain.
  • You decide whether, when and how hard to train. Listen to your body over the plan.
  • Paces, heart rate and imported runs are estimates and can be wrong.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You cancel in the App Store or Google Play, and deleting the app doesn’t cancel.
  • Nothing here takes away your legal rights as a consumer, and we don’t limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
  • English law applies, and you can go to your local UK courts. No arbitration.

1. About these terms

1.1 These terms are an agreement between you and JogOn (company number [COMPANY NUMBER], [REGISTERED ADDRESS]) (“JogOn”, “we”, “us”). They cover the JogOn app, the JogOn Garmin watch app and our website (together, “JogOn”).

1.2 Our privacy policy explains what we do with your data. It isn’t part of this contract, but please read it, especially the parts on health data and routes.

1.3 If you downloaded JogOn from the Apple App Store or Google Play, their terms also apply (for example, Apple’s standard licensed application end-user licence agreement). Where they conflict with these terms, theirs win only as far as they have to.

1.4 Contact us at callumbuttery@gmail.com.

2. Who can use JogOn

2.1 You must be 18 or over. We may ask you to confirm your age, and we’ll close an account we believe belongs to someone under 18.

2.2 You can only have one account, and it’s for your own use. Keep your sign-in details safe and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

3. Health and safety: please read this

3.1 What JogOn is. JogOn gives general training guidance. It turns your goal, personal bests, available days and feedback into a plan using fixed rules, for example the Riegel formula and pace zones worked out from your personal bests. It wasn’t designed for you personally, and we don’t know the state of your health.

3.2 What JogOn isn’t. JogOn isn’t a medical device. It doesn’t give medical advice, and it doesn’t diagnose, treat or prevent any injury or illness. Nothing in JogOn creates a doctor–patient or physio–patient relationship. Never ignore medical advice, or delay getting it, because of something JogOn says.

3.3 See a GP first if any of these apply:

  • you have, or have had, a heart condition, chest pain, high blood pressure, or a doctor has told you to exercise only with medical supervision;
  • you’ve ever fainted, blacked out or felt dizzy during or after exercise;
  • you have diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, or any other condition that exercise could affect;
  • you take medication that affects your heart rate or blood pressure, or you have a pacemaker;
  • you’re pregnant, have recently given birth or are breastfeeding;
  • you’re coming back from an injury, surgery or a long illness;
  • you haven’t exercised for a long time.

If you’re not sure, ask your GP before you start.

3.4 Stop and get help. Stop at once and get medical help if you have chest pain or tightness, unusual breathlessness, dizziness or faintness, an irregular or racing heartbeat, or sudden sharp pain. In an emergency, call 999 (or 112). Don’t run through pain because a session is planned.

3.5 Injuries and niggles. If you tell JogOn something hurt, or that you have a niggle or an injury, JogOn may make your upcoming sessions easier. That is a training adjustment made by fixed rules. It isn’t a diagnosis or a treatment plan. If pain lasts, gets worse or changes how you move, see a GP or a physiotherapist.

3.6 Strength and mobility sessions. Learn the movements before you add load, use equipment you know is safe, and skip any exercise that causes pain.

3.7 Your choices. You choose whether to follow a session, how hard to go, and where and when you run. Plan your routes for safety (traffic, light, weather, surfaces), wear visible kit in the dark, and take care with headphones. Running and strength training carry some risk of injury even when done sensibly. Section 9 explains our responsibility to you. This section doesn’t change it.

4. Your plan, paces and data: accuracy

4.1 Paces, target times and predicted race times are estimates from your personal bests and standard formulas. They can be too fast or too slow for you on a given day, especially in heat, at altitude, on hills or when you’re tired. Go by feel when the numbers don’t match how you feel.

4.2 Heart rate, distance, routes and other run data come from your watch, your phone’s health app, Strava, COROS, Polar or our Garmin watch app. We don’t record them ourselves. Sensors can be wrong, and JogOn can match a run to the wrong session or miss one. You can rematch, edit or unmatch runs in the app.

4.3 We’ll take reasonable care that JogOn works as described, but we don’t promise it will be error-free or available all the time.

4.4 We don’t promise that you’ll reach a goal, set a personal best or finish a race.

5. Connected services

5.1 JogOn works with services run by other companies: Apple Health, Health Connect, Strava, COROS, Polar and Garmin. You connect them yourself, under their own terms and privacy policies. We aren’t responsible for them, and they can change or withdraw what they let us read at any time. If that happens, some features may stop working. We’ll tell you if a change affects a paid feature.

5.2 You can disconnect a service in Profile at any time. The privacy policy says what happens to data we have already imported.

5.3 Strava. JogOn uses Strava’s API but isn’t developed or endorsed by Strava. We show your Strava data only to you, don’t use it for AI, and delete it when Strava’s rules require.

5.4 The JogOn Garmin watch app is published by us, not Garmin. Garmin isn’t responsible for it.

6. Subscriptions and free trials

6.1 Prices. The price, billing period and length of any free trial are shown in the app before you subscribe. In the UK, JogOn costs £7.99 a month or £49.99 a year, with a 14-day free trial. UK prices include VAT.

6.2 Free trial. If you start a free trial, it turns into a paid subscription automatically at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You can have one free trial.

6.3 Renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the price then in force, until you cancel.

6.4 Cancelling. Cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting the app or your JogOn account doesn’t cancel a subscription bought through Apple or Google.

6.5 Refunds. Apple and Google take payment for subscriptions bought through their stores and handle refunds under their own policies. Contact them first, and we’ll help where we can. Your legal rights are not affected.

6.6 Your 14-day right to cancel. UK law gives you 14 days to change your mind about a digital service. Because you can use JogOn straight away, the store may ask you to agree that the service starts at once.

6.7 Price changes. We’ll tell you at least 30 days before a price rise applies to you. If you don’t want to pay the new price, you can cancel before it takes effect.

6.8 Founding-member offer. If you subscribe in the first three months after launch, your first year costs £29.99, and you keep the founding price for as long as you keep renewing.

7. Your content

7.1 Your notes, feedback and other things you add to JogOn stay yours. You give us permission to store, process and show them only to provide JogOn to you. That permission ends when you delete them or your account.

7.2 If you share a run image from the app, you decide who sees it. Check it before you share.

7.3 If you send us ideas or feedback about JogOn, we may use them to improve it without paying you.

8. Using JogOn fairly

You agree not to:

  • break the law using JogOn, or use it to harm anyone;
  • copy, resell or reverse engineer JogOn, or try to get around its security;
  • scrape it or access it with automated tools, other than the watch app and connections we provide;
  • overload our systems or interfere with other people’s use of JogOn;
  • give false information that affects someone else (for example, signing up as someone else).

JogOn’s software, design and content belong to us or our licensors. You may use them only as these terms allow.

9. Our responsibility to you

9.1 What we’re responsible for. If we break these terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result. Loss is foreseeable if it’s obvious it will happen, or if we both knew it might happen when you started using JogOn.

9.2 What we never limit. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, for example that digital content is as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality, and that services are provided with reasonable care and skill;
  • anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit.

9.3 Personal use only. JogOn is for your personal use. We’re not responsible to you for business losses, such as lost profit or lost business opportunities.

9.4 Damage to your device. If digital content we supply damages your device or other digital content, and that happened because we didn’t use reasonable care and skill, we’ll repair the damage or pay you compensation.

9.5 Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and [£100].

9.6 Events outside our control. We aren’t responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as a failure at a connected service or a hosting provider. If that stops a paid service for a long time, you can cancel and get a refund for the period you didn’t get.

10. Changes, suspension and ending

10.1 Changing JogOn. We may update JogOn, for example to improve plans, fix problems, or because a connected service changes. If a change makes a paid feature you rely on much worse, we’ll tell you, and you can cancel and get a refund for the remaining period you’ve paid for.

10.2 Changing these terms. We’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice of material changes in the app or by email. If you don’t agree, you can stop using JogOn and delete your account before they take effect. If a change hurts you in a way you can’t reasonably accept and you’ve paid upfront, we’ll refund the unused part of your subscription.

10.3 You can stop at any time. Delete your account in Profile › Delete account, or on our website (and cancel any subscription in the store, see 6.4).

10.4 We can suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we have to by law. Where it’s reasonable, we’ll warn you first and give you a chance to put it right. If we close your account without fault on your part, we’ll refund the unused part of any subscription you paid us for.

10.5 If we stop running JogOn, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice where we can, refund the unused part of any subscription, and give you a way to get a copy of your data.

11. Law and disputes

11.1 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts, and the mandatory consumer laws of where you live still protect you.

11.2 Please contact us first at callumbuttery@gmail.com so we can try to sort things out. We won’t make you go to arbitration, and you keep your right to go to court.

11.3 If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. Nobody other than you and us has rights under these terms. We may transfer this agreement to another business that takes over JogOn, and we’ll tell you if we do. Your rights won’t be reduced.
